Rihanna's 'Only Girl' Rebounds to No. 1 on Hot 100

Two weeks after topping the Billboard Hot 100 with “What’s My Name?” (featuring Drake), Rihanna will return to No. 1 on the chart released Thursday (Nov. 25) with “Only Girl (In the World),” the debut single from her new album, “Loud.”

It’s the first time in Hot 100 history that an album’s debut single reaches No. 1 after the second single does. “What’s My Name” dips 7-8 on the Hot 100, though it does take the Airplay Gainer for a fourth straight week. “Loud, meanwhile, debuts at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

Sean Garrett: "Nicki Minaj's Failed Single Was 'Out Of My Control"

Singer/songwriter/producer Sean Garrett has been responsible for creating hits like Usher’s “Yeah,” Beyonce’s “Ring The Alarm” and Ciara’s “Goodies.” But it doesn’t mean the hit-making machine hasn’t had some blunders along the way as well.

Last year, Nicki Minaj released what was then dubbed her first single, a track titled “Massive Attack,” produced by Garrett. But the track failed to meet radio and chart expectations, and eventually was dropped entirely from Minaj’s debut album, “Pink Friday.”

According to Garrett, the success — or lack thereof — of the track was “out of my control. I was only able to do as much as I was allowed to do. Sometimes you have to step back and get off the wheel,” he says. “I didn’t have control of the entire creative process. A lot of [other] artists trust me enough and allow me to do what I know is best to do as a producer.”

Disappointment aside, there is no love lost for the Young Money rapstress, says Garrett. “I’m very happy to have worked with her, I wish her the best and am happy she’s doing what she’s doing,” he says, adding that their relationship at the moment is “cool. Hopefully [the album] turns out as she hopes it to be.”

Garrett isn’t letting the mishap slow him down at all. He recently signed a deal with Columbia Records and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, the latter which earlier in his career christened him “The Pen” for his ability to write hit records. “It’s a beautiful situation,” he says.

He also recently released his “Inkwell” mixtape and is prepping his first stateside as-yet-untitled album. First single “I Feel Loved” features Drake and there’s also a “surprise” release coming in a couple of days, says Garrett. Additionally, a mixtape single titled “So Geeked” was released a couple of weeks ago, and the remix to it, featuring Busta Rhymes, Ludacris and Twista, was released yesterday (Oct. 19).

As if that weren’t enough, Garrett is currently working with Justin Bieber, Beyonce, Alexandra Burke, Britney Spears and newcomer K. Michelle. Although details were limited, there are also a number of branding deals in the works.

“I got some big things coming,” says Garrett cryptically. “Just know that you’ll see Sean Garrett in many different lights soon.”

Singer Celine Dion Hospitalized

Celine Dion has been admitted to a Florida hospital to prevent the early delivery of her twins.

A representative for the superstar singer said Monday that Dion is at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Fla. The hospitalization was recommended to make sure she’s near her doctors leading up to the babies’ birth. She is due to deliver the twins early next month.

Dion announced earlier this year that she’s pregnant with two boys. She had tried for years to have more children. She and her husband, Rene Angelil, are the parents of a 9-year-old son, Rene Charles.

Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Paramore Lead 'VH1 Divas' Lineup (Full List)

Being a diva is different than it used to be.

Katy Perry, Sugarland, Keri Hilson, Nicki Minaj and Paramore are this year’s “VH1 Divas,” but they’ll be taking some of the focus off themselves, singing for the military through a partnership with the USO.

Perry, Sugarland, Hilson and Minaj will perform for thousands of men and women in uniform at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego. Paramore will visit Marines, soldiers, airmen, sailors, coastguardsmen and reservists at a military base in the Middle East.

Hilson called it an incredible opportunity.

“I get to be among so many other influential women, groundbreaking women, strong, powerful, confident women, not only on that day, but just to be a part of the legacy of ‘VH1 Divas,’” she said.

Hilson said she embraces the positive characteristics of being a diva.

“Strong woman, yes I am. Leader, yes I am. Innovative, creative, all those things, yes, I am that,” said Hilson.

Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland has a similar definition for the modern day diva.

“All of these women definitely have a larger than life persona, be it on stage or who they are or what they wear,” she said. “I think there’s something to be said for celebrating that.”

Hilson and Nettles love the idea of supporting the troops through the show. Hilson’s dad served in the Army before she was born, and Nettles has a brother in the Air Force.

Sugarland is the only country act on the bill, and Nettles is excited to show people “that country music is hip and young and fun and accessible.”

She says, “It’s not necessarily about lifestyle, it’s about having fun and being human.”

To make her “Divas” performance memorable, Nettles jokes that she’s “hoping to get to wear the Cher outfit,” from the infamous 1989 music video aboard a battleship for “If I Could Turn Back Time.” Cher, a previous “VH1 Divas” performer, wore a barely there, V-shaped swimsuit with a fishnet body stocking during the video, which was taped with a large group of sailors.

Other past entertainers on “VH1 Divas” include Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Hudson, Leona Lewis, Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Aretha Franklin, Mary J. Blige, Shania Twain, Faith Hill, Whitney Houston and Beyoncé.

“VH1 Divas Salute The Troops” premieres Dec. 5 on VH1. It will be broadcast internationally by the Armed Forces Network.
