Lil Wayne's Carter 1V Album Is Album Finish Production

Young Money’s President Mack Maine, recently spoke to XXL Magazine about Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV album. Mack says the album is nearly finished, and that Weezy worked on the album with someone he’s never worked with before. He also mentions that they just finished shooting the “6 Foot 7 Foot” music video which took 4 days, and that producers Details and Swizz Beatz will also be on the album.

You can read the entire interview below:

“I was in the studio all night workin’ on this Carter IV,” the Young Money President told XXL. “We pretty much finished, to be honest; we probably need about two more songs. We got David Banner coming in tonight, so hopefully he’ll come with somethin’. We try to make sure—he kind of makes every album. He made Tha Carter III, and made We Are Young Money.”

As for features on the disc, aside from Nicki and Drake, Mack remained tight lipped, though he did hint at a surprise. “I’m gonna keep the features a surprise,” he said, before revealing that Weezy “just did something with somebody he never worked with, though.”

They recently shot a video, as well. “Wayne actually shot his first video with Hype Williams, which is big. We just finished a four-day video shoot, which is like a movie to me.”

As for Wayne’s post-jail sound, Mack pulled no punches. “Expect maturity and him showing his growth in the game,” he assured.

On the production tip, there will be both old and new names on the project. “A couple of new cats,” he continued. “This kid, his name’s Detail. A few people know him; he did ‘Sexy Can I’ for Ray J. He’s gonna be relatively new, I guess, to some people. As far as big names, Swizz Beatz is on there.”

While Mack Mizzle did not give a release date for Tha Carter IV, he did confirm that Lil Wayne could finish the album by as soon as tonight. “Two or three more songs I’d say. We could be finished as of today, but we perfectionist so we still looking for one or two more sounds.”

Q-Tip Is Recording A New Record

Q-Tip  is currently finishing up his as-yet-untitled fourth studio album.  Q-Tip has recently revealed that he’s is making the time to work with Kanye West on his highly-anticipated upcoming album and Jay-Z’s forthcoming album as well.

“I’m getting ready to work on stuff for Mary J. Blige… Kanye and I are gonna continue to work together. We’re doing some stuff for Jay-Z’s new album that’s coming out in the spring and then after Jay’s thing I’m gonna start recording my new album… Kanye should be working on that, too,” the A Tribe Called Quest frontman told XXL magazine.

Q-Tip was specifically about his work with West, Q-Tip seemed excited about Kanye’s return to full-fledge rhyming. “This album is, in a good way, going backwards,” he explained. “When he did ['808s & Heartbreak'] that was such a departure from ‘College Dropout.’ But now he’s stepping backwards so this album will be more of a sonic extension of ‘College Dropout’ and ‘Graduation’ but he’s doing it with a new attitude. He’s looking forward but reaching back, which is interesting.”
